Our organisation

NWP is the network organisation for the Dutch water sector. The Netherlands has a rock-solid reputation when it comes to water. We believe this expertise can make a difference worldwide. For this reason, we facilitate the Dutch water sector in export, international cooperation and promotion. NWP has about 180 members, profit and non-profit, from water technology to water infrastructure, NGO and government. With these members, we create water impact worldwide and NWP is responsible for adding value on a daily basis for our members. And with our members. 

NWP’s global ambition is to grow the international impact of the Dutch water sector through its contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Your role

As a Business Relations Officer within the Business Relationship Management (BRM) team, your role in a three-person team will be at the centre of the organisation. 

The BRM team is in charge of communicating with our members, hearing and understanding their needs, and translating those needs into projects, activities and services that add value to the Dutch water sector and our members in particular. Within that working environment, you will be the focal point for our member-related services, including everything from original intakes to services provided – from addressing customised questions to organisation-wide events – and finally to properly administering and sharing our findings with the rest of the organisation.

Additionally, NWP provides a broad menu of services for a globally-operating group of clients and customer relations, either through our membership department or through external projects. Your job will be to support the BRM team in lead acquisition, project lead follow-up and the active development of proposals for our external clients.

Bottom line? You know all about our members, their businesses, and their international ambitions. Facilitating new business matches by connecting our members with others in the Dutch water sector or new market opportunities worldwide. Making smart and swift decisions, you distribute the market intelligence – disseminated by our project managers – in the right direction towards successful projects. Administering those activities in our CRM-system disclosing the information with NWP colleagues and building up our market intelligence and our network. Finally, developing smart ideas and industry feedback into member services or marketable products or services. 

You work closely with the Marketing and Communication colleagues to communicate success stories of members and the Dutch water sector in general.

Besides working from home or at our office in The Hague, you participate in network events and visit our Dutch members regularly.

  • You have regular meetings with employees of our member organisations.
  • Provide regular and accurate forecasting of pipeline movements within the CRM tool and make sure the information in the CRM database is accurate and up-to-date.
  • You review our member services and design a strategy to optimise the membership benefits. 
  • Acts as liaison between members and customers and NWP.

Involve

  • Operationalise the account management strategy with our teams.
  • Identify business opportunities.
  • Support external acquisition by translating leads into project opportunities (proposal development and communications with prospective clients).
  • Provide administrative support to acquisition efforts.
  • Follow-up with conversations with prospective clients and members to ensure quality of the process and added value for our counterparts.

What we ask

  • A higher water-related, communications or international business education (Bachelor or Master).

  • You are meticulous and structured in your process and a solid support base for the rest of the team.
  • You are a connector, networker, a true linking-pin.
  • You have experience in working on projects in a public or private environment and account management. International experience is an advantage.
  • Experience with the use of a CRM tool. And eager to learn to work with other NWP systems such as content management system and planning tools.
  • Good command of Dutch and English language is required; knowledge of another language is an advantage. 
  • You are comfortable with business, scientific, NGO and G2G types of communications.
  • Only candidates with a valid work permit in The Netherlands will be considered
