From 6-10 November a delegation from Nama Group (Oman Water & Wastewater Services) visited the Netherlands. They attended a special programme for incoming delegations at Aquatech Amsterdam, the world’s leading trade show for water and wastewater treatment. The delegation was hosted by Sabrina Doetjes of the Netherlands Water Partnership, who also serves on the Oman Strategic Taskforce on Water. Apart from visiting Aquatech Amsterdam, the delegation also attended part of the congress organised by AIWW. The delegation looks back at a successful visit to the Netherlands.

On the first day, 6 November, the delegation hosted a session at the NL Lounge theatre in the Netherlands Pavilion. Eng. Suhaila Al Balushi, Water Network Planning Manager at Nama Group, presented the company, its history, and its ambitious Master Plan to secure a water-safe future for the almost five million citizens living in Oman.

This was followed by a presentation by Ahmed Sayed Brik of Raya Services who outlined the programme of the first Oman Water Week 2024, to be held in January 2024 in Muscat, Oman. On behalf of the organiser of the Oman Water Week, and the Programme Committee of the event, he invited the Dutch water sector to contribute to the workshop programming and to participate in the conference programme.

Meeting Dutch technology solutions and innovators

After engaging with Dutch organisations during the presentations, the delegation members made their way to the Aquatech exhibition floor. They visited the technology solutions on display in the Netherlands Pavilion, including the Holland Innovation Park. There was interest in a variety of solutions and the members of the delegation had in-depth technical discussions with the participants in the Pavilion. The delegation also visited a number of Dutch companies exhibiting outside the Netherlands Pavilion. The morning was concluded with roundtable meetings with representatives of the Dutch water sector.

Knowledge exchange

On 7 and 8 November the delegation attended the congress organised by AIWW, participating in the Wetskills competition on Wednesday. The other days of the week were dedicated to field visits to NWP members KWR and Kiwa.

Oman Strategic Task Force on Water

NWP runs the Secretariat of the Oman Strategic Task Force on Water and supports the Netherlands Embassy in maintaining bilateral relations between Oman and the Netherlands on water. NWP chairs the Dutch side of the Task Force.
