NWP pro-actively works together with its large member network to seize opportunities that Europe offers, such as the European Green Deal and European subsidies for the implementation of EU directives. Additionally, NWP is involved in numerous initiatives that are carried out in the Netherlands.
The NGO Water Platform, initiated by NWP to strengthen cooperation between its NGO members and other segments of the NWP membership, is a good example of a forum that catalyses engagement and partnerships. In recent years, the Platform has also played an active advocacy role. Its policy group has influenced national and European policies through engagement with the Dutch Standing Committee on Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation.
NWP also hosts the Secretariat of the Nutrient Platform, a cross-sectoral working group that aims to advance sustainable nutrient management through nutrient recycling. In practice, NWP puts a face to the Platform, coordinates its activities, and facilitates the dissemination of information.
In addition, NWP’s member-related activities are excellent platforms to highlight European developments that may present prospects to the Dutch water sector. A recent example is the review of the European Water Resilience Strategy, and the opportunities it may offer to the sector, during a Member Meet-up. Read more about this here.
Through the Top Consortia for Knowledge and Innovation in the Water Technology sector (TKI Water Technology), which NWP co-implements, emerging developments in national and European research are connected to the market’s needs. As part of its role, NWP regularly hosts matchmaking sessions and helps showcase water technology innovations at industry events and through thematic podcasts.
