It will host two dynamic sessions, uniting global experts, policymakers, and practitioners to address some of the most urgent water-related challenges of our time.
As a key platform for the Dutch water sector internationally, NWP brings a collaborative, solutions-oriented approach to this year’s programme which focuses on climate action, cross-sector innovation, and sustainable development.
Our attendance reflects NWP’s mission: to facilitate impactful partnerships, share Dutch expertise, and accelerate global progress towards resilient and inclusive water systems. With climate change, biodiversity loss, and food insecurity becoming increasingly interconnected, our sessions offer timely insights and practical pathways for tackling these overlapping challenges.
World Water Week in Stockholm, held from 24-28 August 2025, is an annual conference on global water challenges that strongly emphasises collaboration between donors, NGOs, and development partners. Hosted by the Stockholm International Water Institute (SIWI), it serves as a key platform for shaping international water policy, advancing sustainable development goals, and driving collective action through cross-sector partnerships.

This session aims to spark new collaboration and accelerate action at the critical nexus of water, food, and biodiversity. Agriculture accounts for nearly three-quarters of global freshwater use and, with the added pressure of climate change, the stakes are higher than ever.
We will explore a forward-looking vision developed by Wageningen University & Research that is aligned with the Global Commission on the Economics of Water, and grounded in a Dutch Ministry of Agriculture, Nature and Food Quality policy innovation. Topics include:

Co-convened by Netherlands Water Partnership, Danish Water Forum, French Water Partnership, Japan Water Forum, Korea Water Forum, Northern Water Network, Swedish Water House, and Swiss Water Partnership.
This session is organised by the Netherlands Water Partnership and its partners in the Northern Water Network (NoWNET). NoWNET is a collaboration of national water partnerships and organisations from Northern Europe and Asia. The network aims to accelerate water resilience and climate adaptation by sharing knowledge, aligning strategies, and promoting joint action across borders. Through NoWNET, NWP works with like-minded partners to amplify collective impact and bridge North-South and South-South cooperation.
The session explores how the new EU Water Resilience Strategy can fast-track climate action in the water sector through integrated, cross-sector collaboration. Drawing on case studies from Europe, Korea, and Japan, the session will showcase resource-efficient solutions, innovative governance models, and inclusive financing mechanisms that support sustainable water management at all levels – from local basins to global policy.
