A wide variety of Dutch NGOs focus on different aspects of water ranging from access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, enhancing sustainable water use and ecosystems management. As an integral part of NWP, the NGO Water Platform organizes this key stakeholder group and actively connects these Dutch member organisations and their local counterparts, to other stakeholders in the water sector, e.g. through the Country Platforms.
NWP considers intensified cooperation between NGOs, companies, governments and knowledge institutes as a key condition for achieving truly integrated water management and creating sustainable access to safe drinking water, sanitation and hygiene, a key condition in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals. The kind of cooperation the NWP provides, allows NGOs access to knowledge and expertise of companies and knowledge institutions, as well as access to government initiatives, while companies and government institutions will benefit from the specific field knowledge and local networks of NGOs.
The NGO Water Platform supports its members’ activities in the water sector worldwide, and demonstrates the effectiveness and sustainability of our member’s work. It actively facilitates deepened connections between all its members and other actors within NWP and assures NGO participation in NWP programmes and projects. Membership of the NGO Water Platform allows for direct access to a diversity of actors within the Dutch water sector while at the same time providing its members with mechanisms to keep abreast of water related themes, policies, activities, meetings and events.
The Platform actively reaches out to NWP members through experts meeting and network events, as well as through the weekly NWP newsletter. The Platform itself meets every three months to share recent intelligence, realize joint policy analyses, and allow NGO members to network and development shared activities.
