The Mapping International Financial Instruments for Water (MIFIW) report provides an overview of European funding opportunities with a special focus on the calls most relevant for the Dutch water sector. Commissioned by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management and produced by the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), it supports organisations in identifying and accessing European programmes and financial instruments.

Whether you are a water technology company, consultancy, knowledge institution, NGO or public organisation working in innovation, the report helps you identify where opportunities exist to contribute, participate and benefit from European programmes, either directly or indirectly. It covers funding instruments supporting water-related innovation across all Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) and explains how they can be applied throughout the innovation cycle.

Alongside an overview of the European programmes and funding landscape, the report provides practical guidance on identifying relevant calls, strategies for joining European teams with strong track records, building effective European consortia, and increasing the visibility of Dutch water sector organisations within wider European networks.One of the key findings is the importance of adopting a long-term European engagement strategy.
