About NWP

The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) is an independent foundation established in 1999 to provide a connected platform for public and private sector water organisations to meet and create opportunities together.

At the World Water Forum in Morocco in 1997, Dutch organisations and the Dutch Government saw the need for greater collaboration and a stronger united voice in the international arena, and for better collaboration to collectively achieve more as a sector. This led to the establishment of NWP.

Water Driven Future

Fostering collaboration

Since then, fostering collaboration in the Dutch water sector in the Netherlands and abroad has remained at the core of NWP’s mission, which is 'to promote and serve the interests, needs and priorities of the Dutch water sector in the international community in its efforts to contribute to solving the global water challenges in a societal, just and environmentally resilient way, whilst growing its global reach and impact.

NWP implements initiatives that promote cross-sector collaboration and innovation to enhance collective impact, raises the international profile of the Dutch water sector, and joins forces to positively influence policy; all while contributing to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

An inclusive network

NWP maintains strong connections throughout the sector and, through its wide network, can connect organisations and individuals who may not otherwise find each other.

NWP works with strategic partners and members to accelerate impact for a sustainable, water-secure future. We do this through connecting expertise across sectors – primarily the sectors of water, food, and energy – and linking water and maritime services and their practitioners for integrated action to tackle the global water challenges of the future.

NWP serves the entire Dutch water sector wherever there is a need and works with public and private sector organisations alike.

NWP Governance

NWP is an independent, non-governmental foundation managed by a Director and Chair of the Board. In addition, there is a Supervisory Board that oversees NWP’s performance and an Advisory Board that provides overall strategic guidance.

The Advisory Board reflects the broad Dutch water sector. We are proud to benefit from the expertise of the following members:

  • Mr Henk Nieboer, chairman
  • Ms Meike van Ginneken represents the Central Government
  • Ms Luzette Kroon represents the Water Authorities
  • Mr Toine Ramaker represents the Water Utilities
  • Mr Johannes Boonstra represents the Knowledge and Research Institutes
  • Mr Michel Riemersma represents the Consultants and Engineers
  • Ms Lisa Brand represents the Water Technology Innovation and Manufacturers
  • Ms Anne Loes Nillesen represents the Spatial Planners and Architects
  • Mr Jacob Jan Vreugdenhil represents the NGOs

The Advisory Board will soon be expanded to include representatives from the Civil & Hydraulic Construction sector.
