Dutch delegation explores Energy-Water synergies at E-World 2025

The connection between renewable energy, energy in general, and water is becoming increasingly evident. Water plays a crucial enabling role in the global energy market, whether in hydrogen production, energy storage, power generation through water, or industrial applications for large-scale utilities and energy providers. Water is steadily becoming integrated into the energy sector, highlighting its cross-sectoral potential.

While E-World is predominantly energy-focused, this visit was a valuable opportunity to explore synergies between water and energy. It also laid the groundwork for potential long-term collaboration between E-World, German stakeholders, and the Dutch water sector. The discussions held during the event reinforced the need for integrated approaches to energy and water challenges, ensuring that both sectors work together to support global sustainability goals.

Engaging with key stakeholders

With the support of the Dutch Consulate in Düsseldorf, the delegation had the opportunity to present their expertise in the Dutch Lounge, where several companies pitched their innovative solutions. Throughout the day, we engaged with key stakeholders, including representatives from the North Rhine-Westphalia 4 Climate initiative and Jörg Kemna, CEO and Chairman of Business Metropole Ruhr GmbH. These interactions facilitated meaningful discussions on potential partnerships, knowledge exchange, and investment opportunities in the water-energy nexus. The visit to E-World 2024 was a highly productive and insightful experience and one that demonstrated the growing relevance of water in the energy transition.
