ASEAN-5 mission and ASIA Water
The ASEAN-5 region is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. With water challenges on the rise, the region is open to finding solutions together with partners and technology providers. Connect with the region and explore the opportunities by joining the trade mission to Malaysia from 6-9 December 2022, including the ASIA Water trade fair.
The ASEAN-5 countries offer opportunities for the Dutch water sector active in water technology and infrastructure, water management, and climate solutions. The trade mission coincides with the ASIA Water 2022, a leading water fair in Southeast Asia. The fair attracts more than 17,000 visitors from more than 65 countries.
The ASEAN-5 trade mission is organised by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency, in cooperation with Dutch Embassies in the ASEAN-5 region (Vietnam, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, and Malaysia), and Netherlands Water Partnership. The trade mission includes:
- Meeting relevant decision makers, stakeholders, and potential business partners during the Netherlands Water Innovation Forum at ASIA Water, including network drinks;
- Market intelligence delivered by water experts of the Dutch embassies;
- Field visits;
- Presenting your knowledge and/or technologies to relevant stakeholders of the Malaysian Government.
NWP will provide substantive contributions to specific sessions in the programme.
Water challenges in ASEAN-5 countries
The ASEAN-5 region increasingly faces challenges related to climate change, resulting in flooding and pollution. Concrete challenges are reducing industrial pollution, plastic waste and improving water quality. There is also a demand for water technology that can contribute to the prevention and control of flooding. The demand for smart technologies for reuse of industrial wastewater, drainage, clean water supply, improving sanitation, and nature-based solutions is therefore high.
A recent study by NWP Member Royal HaskoningDHV, commissioned by Netherlands Enterprise Agency, provides a comprehensive picture of the water challenges in the ASEAN-5 region.
