In connection with the FAO Science and Innovation Forum 2022, Wageningen Environmental Research in collaboration with the Saline Water & Food System Partnership is organising an online side event on Thursday 13 October 2022, titled 'Salinity, a complex global challenge with a need for an integrated approach'.
NWP, together with Netherlands Food Partnership and NWP member Wageningen University & Research, invites all interested parties to participate in this online event and contribute to an interactive discussion. The event takes place from 09:00 – 10:30 AM, CEST.

Innovative solutions to mitigate and adapt to salinisation and ensure food security
Salinity levels are increasing in deltas and (semi) arid areas worldwide. Changes of the food systems are essential to ensure global food security and an integrated approach is needed. Action by all stakeholders (research, policy, and application) is required as well as innovative technological and organisational solutions in all domains of the salinity topic (water, soil, crop). This session will show inspirational cases and the linkages between policy, research, and application within all domains.

Saline Water & Food System Partnership
On March 10, 2022, stakeholders from the Netherlands water and food sectors gathered in The Hague to explore how various Dutch organisations can work together on a common ambition and intensify cross-sectoral collaboration, stimulate national and international knowledge exchange, and initiate projects. Participants supported the partnership initiative and there was also commitment to contribute to joint activities. Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP) and Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) jointly facilitate the SW&FS Partnership.
