Climate change and the loss of biodiversity are a threat to humanity and therefore the major themes of our time. Climate change adaptation, Water management and Biodiversity are therefore focal themes for our consultancy. Our consultancy has been involved in research and monitoring in these fields for more than 30 years, and advises on strategies, management, monitoring, and nature-based solutions for planning and design.

As an independent ecological research and consultancy firm, Altenburg & Wymenga is an experienced partner for government agencies, water boards, nature conservation organizations, civil society organizations, engineering firms, consultancies and other companies. Our experts have long-term experience, working in tropical Africa and elsewhere.

Our international projects focus on wetland ecology, biodiversity, impact assessments, and integrated water resources management (IWRM). We prefer to work together with local people and organizations, since we are convinced that bringing in local knowledge is essential for making such projects a success.
