The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Wavemakers United to set up the wavemakersunited.com international youth platform. The platform aims to inspire, enthuse, activate and make water, food and energy innovations visible, thereby creating awareness around the various global challenges we are facing.
The MoU was signed at the ‘Water, Energy and Food for Cities, Industry and Agriculture’ seminar on 23 March at the Netherlands Pavilion at EXPO Dubai. Other signatory organisations are Arcadis, Wetskills, the University of Balamand Lebanon, the Dutch Marine Energy Centre, RanMarine, Axionomic and Pure Blue Water.

Wavemaker United Academy
Young people all over the world are confronted with water challenges. They often have innovative solutions, but few networks or opportunities to implement them. Wavemakers United and several universities in the Middle East and the Netherlands are seeking to establish an international Wavemaker Academy through which to educate the youth in local communities about the multiple functions and values of water, food, and energy. In doing so, they will also enable them to share their learning within their own communities through guest lectures and readings.
Dutch Wavemakers, Young Expert Programmes and Wetskills established the Wavemaker Academy as a pilot project in South Africa for which they won the Valuing Water Pitch-a-Thon in 2020.
