Recap of the 62nd ACODAL Water Congress & Exhibition in Colombia

A Dutch delegation attended the 62nd ACODAL Water Congress & Exhibition in Cartagena, Colombia, from 29 to 31 May 2019. ACODAL is the trade association of the water and environmental sector in the country. The event attracted about 2,000 attendees whose varied backgrounds included the public and private sectors, banks and NGOs.

Orange Programme

NWP organised the Orange Programme together with the Netherlands Embassy in Colombia. This programme focused on the circular economy, water governance and water technology. It consisted of two interesting sessions with leaders in water management, provision of drinking water and water treatment technologies. It also included a well-attended masterclass on water governance and the circular economy, in which the Dutch Water Authorities presented the Blue Deal Programme.

Dutch innovation

Dutch water experts highlighted their specialised knowledge, best practices and innovative solutions for water challenges in Colombia and the Latin American region. The experts included the Antea group – comprising ICEACSA, Paques, Wequips, Solteq Energy and CFuture – Asesorías y Proyectos Draco and VEI with its WaterWorX programme. There was a strong Dutch presence at the Dutch Pavilion, which Colombia’s Minister of the Environment visited to learn about innovative Dutch solutions.

Collaboration and more information

The organisation of and participation in this event is part of the water cooperation between the Netherlands and Colombia under the framework of the Partners for Water Programme. It was organised in collaboration with the Dutch Embassy and Holland House.
