The first NWP Member Meet-up of 2023 took place at our very own new office in The Hague last Tuesday, 4 April. We look back on an inspiring get-together with a broad representation of actors from the Dutch Water Sector.
Highlights of the NWP activities
Our new Director and Chair of the Board, Caroline Bäcker, opened the Meet-Up by welcoming the members to the beautiful meeting space in our new office. Together we looked back on the first quarter of the year, during which NWP and its members were visible at various national and international events such as the Oman Sustainability Week, UN 2023 Water Conference, New York Water Week and Aqua Nederland Vakbeurs.
Introducing new members to the network
The highlights of the event were the presentations of the newest NWP members. Wettermerk is a marketing agency that helps water and cleantech companies apply and strengthen their authentic marketing. They explained and stressed the importance of marketing as the start of making an impact and amplifying business. Dutch Clean Tech explained how they make an impact with their water cleaning technology by offering smart clean water solutions to communities around the globe. Basic Water Needs emphasised the importance of access to clean drinking water and its crucial role for human health, and demonstrated their Tulip water filter system. Not only does it improve drinking water quality, but Basic Water Needs also claims that it helps reduce CO2 emissions by offering a non-energy dependent filtering system.
We really enjoyed giving a business pitch to the members present. We hope we were able to make others aware of the importance of a strong brand and the relevance of marketing in accelerating business. We also really enjoyed the conversations afterwards!
Water Footprint Compensation - a novel method for mitigating the negative impacts of water consumption
Keynote speaker Jaap Feil from the Water Footprint Implementation gave a presentation on the principles of the concept of Water Footprint Compensation, which was introduced at the UN 2023 Water Conference. It stresses that avoiding water use by reusing water and reducing our water consumption to minimise our water footprint is the most important part. However, as Jaap explained, some water use will remain inevitable. Water Footprint Compensation offers a platform to impactful water projects working on compensating the inevitable water use through other activities that are looking for investors. If you have questions about the concept, don’t hesitate to reach out to NWP and we will be happy to connect you with Water Footprint Implementation.
Networking & Connecting
After the presentations by NWP’s new members and the keynote speaker, there was ample time for networking and connecting over a drink and bite. NWP would like to thank its members for coming and contributing to the event. We enjoyed the lively ambience of this diverse community of water experts.
Great event again, thanks NWP for organising it. It was a pleasure to catch up and meet new NWP members. Looking forward to the next one!
