Toine Ramaker joins NWP’s Advisory Board

The Netherlands Water Partnership warmly welcomes Toine Ramaker as a new member of the NWP Advisory Board, effective June 2024. With an extensive background in WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) and water utilities, Toine brings a wealth of expertise to the Board. In his new role, he will represent the interests of drinking water utilities, succeeding Jelle Hannema, who served in this capacity for several years.

Toine Ramaker is the CEO of VEI, an NWP member organisation founded in 2005 by Dutch water utilities to implement Water Operator Partnerships (WOPs) with public water utilities in 21 countries to improve utility performance. He also leads the Water for Life Foundation, that provides affordable and safe drinking water and sanitation solutions to underserved communities in low-income areas.

Enhancing the sector’s global impact

Toine explains that "VEI works on improving access to water & sanitation facilities at 58 public water utilities. An important part of the portfolio is the WaterWorX programme in which all 10 Dutch drinking water utilities have united and share knowledge with their fellow water utilities around the world. Besides the drinking water mandate, public water utilities abroad play a crucial role in major social issues such as climate adaptation, improved sanitation, and growing water demand due to population influx. Many of the activities of Dutch organisations - public, private, and NGOs - directly or indirectly affect VEI and WaterWorX partners, such as investment programmes, studies, the introduction of new technology, etc. Where possible, through my role on NWP’s Advisory Board, I will strengthen the connections between these activities.’’ Toine continued with great enthusiasm. “I look forward to collaborating with a diverse group of experts to promote and serve the interests and needs of the Dutch water sector and enhance the sector’s global impact."
