NFP World Food Day on 16 October 2025
On Thursday, 16 October 2025, our partner Netherlands Food Partnership (NFP) will host the 7th edition of the NFP World Food Day Event at the Fokker Terminal in The Hague. This year’s theme: “Partnerships that Feed the Future”, highlights a powerful message: in an interconnected world, food security anywhere depends on collaboration everywhere.
World Food Day brings together governments, businesses, researchers and NGOs, creating a unique space to connect and collaborate. Participants will explore solutions ranging from seed innovation to reducing food loss, while joining inspiring panels, interactive networking opportunities and co-creation sessions.

Water at the centre of food systems projects
Time: 10:45 – 12:00
Subtitle: Dutch added value of a truly multi-stakeholder approach
The agro-water nexus demonstrates the vital link between water and food production. Sustainable management of water resources is crucial for resilient food systems. This interactive session will focus on:
- The role of Dutch expertise in agro-water project development
- Collective action, reliable data and valuing water appropriately
- Concrete steps for creating sustainable, responsible business models

Working together for a secure saline food future

Salinity is one of the most urgent yet under-discussed challenges for global food systems. With rising sea levels and climate change threatening fertile farmland, food security and farmer livelihoods are increasingly at risk.
This session, hosted by IVM (Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), WUR Field Crops, NFP and NWP, will focus on innovative, scalable solutions for saline agriculture.
As part of the Saline Water & Food Systems (SW&FS) partnership, it will bring together researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to share insights and explore innovative, scalable solutions for saline agriculture and food security.
