The programme
The meeting will be opened with a warm welcome by Wim Klaassen (Strategic Advisor on Water for Ethiopia, NWP/RVO). During the meeting, Jelmer van Veen (First Secretary for Water Affairs, Netherlands Embassy in Ethiopia) will bring participants up to speed on the recent developments in Ethiopia, and on the cooperation between the Dutch and Ethiopian water sectors.
Moreover, the present approaches related to basin development in Ethiopia from the perspective of IGG (Inclusive Green Growth Department) will be discussed by Omer van Renterghem (Thematic Expert Land, Water and Ecosystems, Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Gwen van Boven (Technical Secretary International Cooperation, the Netherlands Commission for Environmental Assessment) will present to the audience a case of Strategic Environmental Planning in Ethiopia.
The latter part of the afternoon, which focuses on financing opportunities in Ethiopia, will pay attention to the RVO-instruments applicable to Ethiopia, as well as relevant climate funds for Ethiopia. Paul Overgoor (Private Sector Development coach for Ethiopia, RVO) and Alwin Quispel (Business Development Coach for East-Africa, RVO) will be present to tell you all about the RVO repertoire in terms of financial instruments for Ethiopia, such as DGGF, DTIF, DHI, and more.
After a brief overview of relevant climate funds, provided by Lisanne Evenhuis (Project Officer Africa, NWP), Ger Bergkamp (Manager Business Development, Climate Fund Managers) will inform participants on the Climate Investor 2 (CI2) fund from the Dutch Fund for Climate and Development (DFCD), and what it can do for the Dutch water sector in Ethiopia. The meeting will be concluded with an informal networking moment, for which drinks and snacks will be provided.
Covid-19 measures
Covid-19 measures as of then will apply. The meeting anticipates the ‘Netherlands Covid-19 Opening plan’ with group meetings of a maximum of 30 persons. One representative per organisation will be allowed. NWP reserves the right to regulate participation. In case unexpected Covid-19 developments make a physical meeting impossible, the meeting will be held online.

The Water Support Programme is managed by Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) with funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
