About the India–Netherlands International Centre of Excellence on Water
Following the event, RVO and the Dutch Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management will coordinate a visit to Delhi, where participants will explore the future India–Netherlands International Centre of Excellence (CoE) on Water, hosted at the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) and developed in cooperation with the National Mission Clean Ganga (NMCG).
Although the official opening will take place at a later date, this visit offers a valuable opportunity to engage with local stakeholders and contribute to the Centre’s development. The India–Netherlands International Centre of Excellence on Water is being developed in collaboration with the National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Delhi), under the Strategic Water Partnership between India and the Netherlands. The CoE is being launched with a flying start thanks to an ongoing programme of projects, training, and events, and it has a ten-year vision supported financially by the NMCG. The Dutch contribution lies in providing water expertise from various government programmes in cooperation with the Dutch Diamond.
The official opening by the Minister of Infrastructure & Water Management and his Indian counterpart will take place on 29 October at the physical centre on the IIT Delhi campus, featuring an exhibition of Dutch water solutions in water management and water technology.
India is a growing market for environmental technologies. Initiatives such as the government’s Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan (Clean India Mission) have increased demand for effective solutions in sanitation, wastewater management, and resource recovery. The strong policy focus on this country-wide campaign has led to active contributions from companies, institutions and civil society. The Dutch water sector, with its integrated and practical approach, can contribute valuable expertise in these areas.
