As part of the Water Support Programme, a (physical) Rwanda Water Platform meeting is organised on 8 July 2021, starting at 14:45h at The Hague Conference Centre - New Babylon in The Hague.
The meeting will update participants on recent developments in the cooperation between the Netherlands and Rwanda. If you would like to meet Timmo Gaasbeek, the water expert at the Dutch Embassy in Kigali and discuss ongoing activities, ambitions and opportunities related to the water sector in Rwanda, also during a drink after the meeting, then join by registering for the event.
Covid-19 measures as of then will apply. The meeting anticipates the ‘Netherlands Covid-19 Opening plan’ with group meetings of a maximum of 30 persons. One representative per organisation will be allowed. NWP reserves the right to regulate participation. In case unexpected Covid-19 developments make a physical meeting impossible, the meeting will be cancelled and held at a later date.
During the meeting Timmo Gaasbeek (Thematic Expert (Water), EKN Rwanda) will provide an update on Rwanda’s water sector and Dutch involvement in the sector; Bobby Russel (Senior Advisor, Deltares) will talk about the modelling of flooding in Kigali; Reinier Koster (Hydrologist, Future Water) will share IWRM experiences in Rwanda (e.g. the water evaluation and planning tool); Ele Jan Saaf (Owner and Senior Consultant, Saaf Consult) will speak about the feasibility of water supply in Rwanda’s Volcanic Region until 2050 (D2B funding) and Siemen Veenstra (Regional Project Director Africa, Vitens Evides International) will speak about climate resilient water supply in the secondary towns of Rwamagana and Nyagatare.
The Water Support Programme is managed by Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP), the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) with funding from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
