Recap
25 October 2022From 10 to 12 October 2022, New Orleans was host to WEFTEC, the largest water event in the USA. The show was a great success, and was attended by just under 18,000 conference delegates, trade show visitors and exhibitor personnel. New Orleans manifested itself as a great place to meet, offering high quality knowledge exchange and education, lively business conversations, and showcasing the latest water technology trends and proven solutions.
The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) and Water Alliance hosted the Netherlands Lounge at the WEFTEC exhibition. The eye-catching lounge featured innovative Dutch technology in the fields of:
The event was a great success for the participating companies and traffic to the Netherlands Lounge was impressive from day one. It resulted in valuable connections, solid sales leads, a better understanding of the US market and greater insight in potential business opportunities in North America. The next WEFTEC will take place in Chicago in 2023 and interested participants are invited to contact us for more information. Spaces are limited, so mark your calendar and do not wait too long to reserve your spot.
The companies participating in the Netherlands Lounge presented their innovative technology to an engaged audience at the technology pitch seminar session on 11 October of over 55 water technology experts at the Global Center at WEFTEC. The pitches resulted in immediate connections being made after the speakers stepped off the stage at the end of the seminar. Discussions on potential partnerships led to quality leads. In the seminar session, NWP and Water Alliance gave a brief update on the state-of-the-industry of the water sector in the Netherlands. This showcased how Dutch innovative technology helps solve global water challenges.
On 10 October the EU Techbridge project hosted a networking reception which brought together the participants of the Netherlands Lounge and the Danish Pavilion.
The traditional networking reception at the Netherlands Lounge was held on 11 October. True to form, it was a lively and well attended event. The Netherlands Lounge receptions are famous and are always an excellent opportunity for the participating companies to strengthen their existing relationships or expand their networks. As organisers, we are grateful that the Dutch Consulate General of the Netherlands in Miami kindly offered to sponsor the reception which hosted over 60 guests.
Deirdre McLinchey, the Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, graciously welcomed the guests in her speech. And it was a special privilege to welcome the CEO and members of the Board of Directors of the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans to the reception.
The last day of WEFTEC for the Dutch representatives began with a site visit and private tour of the Carrollton treatment facility of the Sewerage & Water Board of New Orleans. The plant, which purifies the city’s water, is nearly a century old. It collects water from the Mississippi River and filters it into potable water. The plant is also home to the Sewerage & Water Board’s five water turbines. The Dutch guests were welcomed by Ron Spooner, the Interim General Superintendent, and his team, and were given a glimpse behind the scenes that featured every aspect of the water treatment plant, including the new energy supply facility that is still to be built. It was an educational and inspirational visit.
The next WEFTEC will be held from 30 September to 4 October 2023 in Chicago. Space in the Netherlands Pavilion is limited, so earmark your budget and don’t wait too long to reserve your spot. If you want to know more about participating, please contact Marieke Leenhouts for more information.
