The NWP NGO Water Platform organised a New Year’s reception last Friday. Each of the 17 NGOs that are part of the platform invited a non-NWP member to the reception as a guest. Glasses were raised in anticipation of a year full of newly initiated partnerships aimed at collectively achieving sustainable and inclusive water management (WASH and IWRM).
Opportunities for collaboration
After presentations from Bianca Nijhof, Managing Director of NWP, and Daniëlle Hirsch, Chair NWP NGO Water Platform, the discussions centred on four themes and opportunities for collaboration.
The four themes discussed were:
water finance & the market, hosted by Aqua for All and Dunea;
sustainable business models for water, hosted by Max Foundation;
water management and agriculture, hosted by Aidenvironment and HKV Lijn in Water;
increasing mutual cooperation between WASH SDG Program, Blue Deal and WaterWorX, hosted by Simavi and Wereld Waternet.

An impression of the New Year's reception of the NGO Water Platform
Share knowledge and local networks
The NWP NGO Water Platform promotes an integrated approach because it believes this will yield most results throughout the water sector and will, moreover, contribute to achieving the SDGs. Intensified cooperation with other NWP members offers NGOs access to the knowledge and expertise of companies, government agencies and knowledge institutes, and simultaneously gives companies, government agencies and knowledge institutes access to the knowledge and local networks of NGOs.
The New Year’s reception was a great step forward in inspiring collaboration. There was consensus among those present that it is evident that intensified cooperation between NGOs, companies and knowledge institutes in the water sector leads to the transition to a sustainable future.
