Ukraine’s call for help
Nobody knows what the future holds. As we anxiously await the war in Ukraine to unfold, we find ourselves grappling for answers and a strong desire to gain a better understanding of what lies at the heart and the scale of the challenges ahead. At the same time, we are in a continuous state of self-reflection about what we can and should do, given the current political and economic context.
The Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) is not in a position to commit itself financially or strategically at this point. However, as a membership organisation that unites the Dutch water sector, we do feel that it is our responsibility to share information on the state of the water infrastructure in Ukraine with our members as it becomes available. Not an easy task. We are aware that despite our best efforts, it will and can never be a complete picture. However, we do wish to inform our members as best we can. With that in mind, we have compiled a report entitled ‘Ukraine’s Call for Help: A first step towards future recovery’. NWP members can request a copy of the report by emailing members@nwp.nl.

Important date to note is the Ukraine Recovery Conference, to be held in Lugano, Switzerland, on 4 and 5 July. The ‘Ukraine Recovery and Development Report’ will be released at the Conference.
We know that a major reconstruction and recovery effort will be necessary following the war, and we need to prepare ourselves accordingly. We hope that we will be in a position to contribute positively to Ukraine’s water sector after the war.
