2 April 2025Aquatech Amsterdam 2025, the leading trade fair for processed water, potable water, and wastewater, saw over 20,000 water professionals from around the world gather in Amsterdam between 11 and 14 March. As always, the Netherlands Water Partnership played a key role in making this event a success, coordinating the Netherlands Pavilion and facilitating numerous connections, collaborations, and knowledge exchanges.
The Netherlands Pavilion once again stood out as the central hub for Dutch water expertise, featuring Dutch companies showcasing state-of-the-art solutions for water management challenges, attracting attention from key international stakeholders. With the signature orange colour, the Pavilion was buzzing with activity, hosting numerous meetings, networking sessions, and matchmaking events.
Smartvatten was one of the participants in the Netherlands Pavilion. Paco Martina, Growth Marketing Manager at Smartvatten said “I was considering having our own booth, but after walking around and observing the level of attention and foot traffic at the stands and throughout the Pavilion, I realised it wouldn’t make sense for us to do anything else in the near future. It’s so well organised, and we’re very happy to be part of the Netherlands Pavilion.’’

Building on the success of 2023, NWP received numerous requests to facilitate the visit of international delegations to Aquatech Amsterdam. This year we had the privilege of supporting 23 countries from across Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, and North America. As a network organisation, NWP tailored bespoke programmes for each delegation, addressing the specific water-related needs of their countries.
In total, over 200 delegates connected with 20 Dutch water sector organisations through approximately 100 stand visits – both inside and outside the Netherlands Pavilion. This figure only grows when factoring in spontaneous conversations on the exhibition floor, one-on-one matchmaking sessions, roundtables, and networking events.
These missions not only bolstered the relationship between the Dutch water sector and its international counterparts but also sparked fresh insights on water-related business opportunities abroad. A standout example came from Brazil, where Ana Lucia Szajubok, Head of Climate Change at Sabesp, expressed her enthusiasm about the experience. “This programme is incredibly useful for us because it gave us the opportunity to meet many companies with new technologies. It is essential for us to familiarise ourselves with these technologies and build networks to enhance our services,” she said.

NWP’s knowledge programme was another highlight, with sessions focused on a range of pressing water-related topics such as the circular economy, climate adaptation, digital solutions, water security, and water treatment. NWP members took to the stage to share their cutting-edge advances in these critical areas, creating a space for professionals to collaborate and inspire one another. One of the standout moments was the launch of the UV Alliance, organised by NWP and UV Alliance members.
Ton van Remmen, Director of Van Remmen UV Technology shared his gratitude. "We really appreciate the opportunity the Netherlands Water Partnership gave us to present the UV Alliance to an international audience at Aquatech. It was an exciting experience, and we were delighted by the strong interest and engagement from the audience. Through NWP we were able to promote and facilitate the session, and it was rewarding to see so many people at the RAI venue talking about UV technology. It created a ripple effect, throwing light on our solutions, and we couldn't be more pleased with the outcome."
