As a result of the dynamics of the water system, there is a need for a wide range of expertise in the Bangladeshi water sector such as integrated water management, coastal management, dredging and land reclamation. Flooding is a major problem in Bangladesh. High sedimentation rates also present a great challenge to maintain the navigability and safe water levels in the water systems. Climate change, urbanisation and intensifying industrial activities further stress the needs for sustainable water management solutions and technologies. Improving the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) condition remains highly important in Bangladesh, in both rural and urban areas.
The NWP hosts the Partners for Water programme’s Bangladesh Country Platform. The Platform brings together Dutch organisations who are active or interested in working in Bangladesh to share knowledge, expertise and experiences. With its network, NWP helps provide information and updates on the developments in the water sector in Bangladesh and brings potential partners together to actively seek ways to jointly develop and execute initiatives and projects in Bangladesh.
