Water related risks are often not adequately considered when creating a business plan and conducting a risk analysis, but there are many such risks which can have an impact on business and investments. In this podcast, we look at the importance of including water in risk analysis by investors and financiers.
The relation between water and risk is discussed out of different perspectives, one of which is the Valuing Water Initiative which demonstrates the practical application of the UN Valuing Water Principles through case studies in different water value chains and sectors. One of the 5 Valuing Water principles is: ‘Invest and innovate – ensure adequate investment in institutions, infrastructure, information and innovation to realise the many benefits derived from water and reduce risks.’ Next to that, the perspective of financiers and sustainability oriented organisations is discussed.
