Presentation of the DRR-Team mission report Angola

On Thursday 7 February, the Dutch Risk Reduction Team (DRR-Team) will hold a sector meeting to update attendees on recent DRR-Team developments and share information on three recent DRR-Team missions to Cuba, Angola and India (Kerala). During parallel break-out sessions the conclusions, recommendations and possibilities for follow-up for the water sector in these countries will be discussed in depth.

Recent DRR-Team missions

In Cuba, the DRR-Team focused on coastal defence measures in Havana province. This mission coincided with a visit from the Dutch Water Envoy, Henk Ovink, to establish a broader basis for future cooperation and Dutch water sector involvement.

The mission to Angola focused on flood risk management, ecological solutions and improving the health conditions of the population of Soyo municipality.

As part of the UNDP/EC Post Disaster Needs Assessment for Kerala State, India, a Dutch IWRM team reviewed the water resources management practices, policies and measures in Kerala State. A second DRR-Team mission to Kerala is currently being planned.

Registration

The DRR-Team sector meeting will be held on 7 February at RVO.nl in The Hague from 13:00 to 16:00. Walk-in starts at 12:30. Sandwiches will be served and the programme will start at 13:00 promptly.

The DRR-Team was initiated by the Netherlands government to share knowledge on water and delta management with governments worldwide who are combatting urgent water challenges.
