The Philippines Government has requested the Netherlands for advice on these and other water related issues, providing opportunities for the Dutch water sector.
The Dutch water sector has successfully been involved in the Philippines for many years now. From 2013 onwards, several Dutch Risk Reduction Team (DRR-Team) missions have taken place at the request of the Philippines Government. The Dutch water sector, with support from the Partners for Water programme, has concentrated on sustainable coastal management, safe urban deltas and improving water quality. The Dutch Government is currently supporting three projects involving Dutch organisations. These projects are: coastal protection; the Manila Bay Sustainable Development Master Plan; and safe drinking water.
NWP facilitates the involvement of the Dutch water sector in activities in the Philippines of the Partners for Water programme. Collaboration with ministries in the Netherlands and the Dutch Embassy in the Philippines ensures that NWP can promote the sector in developments, tenders and projects. If there is sufficient interest, NWP will arrange joint participation for the Dutch water sector in incoming and outgoing missions and international water events, such as the Philippines Water event. Dutch entities working in the water sector in the Philippines can meet and exchange knowledge in the NWP coordinated Philippines Country Platform. Interested in the Philippines?
