The cooperation between Chile and the Netherlands started in 2016 and since then it has been very active in terms of government relations, business interests and knowledge exchange.
Two current projects are developing in Chile under the Partners for Water program:
(a) The Integrated Water Resource Management approach GIRAGUA in the Elqui river basin. The project includes aquifer recharge practices and the potential application of water technology approaches. This project is led by Deltares and involves also Dutch water technology companies.
(b) The coastal rehabilitation project at Los Vilos with the application of Building with Nature solutions. This project is led by Arcadis and involves different stakeholders in Chile.
During the country platform on September 2019, about 30 participants interested to develop business or cooperation initiatives in Chile shared their ideas and were also informed about the current priorities for the Chilean government concerning water and the upcoming activities in the country, for example the COP 25 in December in Santiago de Chile.
