Total professional staff is 13 people, all with MSc. or PhD. degree from well-recognized universities, and multiple years of international experience in water resources projects worldwide. FutureWater is closely linked to leading universities and research institutes, ensuring the use of the latest and most advanced techniques and tools for water resources analyses, hydrological simulation models, Geographic Information Systems, hydro-informatics and Remote Sensing.

Technical capabilities

FutureWater works at the global, regional, national and local levels with partners on projects addressing water for food, energy, irrigation, water excess, water shortage, climate change, and river basin management. Analysis and information products are used to assess impacts related to water allocation, floods, droughts, irrigation, hydropower, and food production. A wide range of models is used, each selected to fit the specific assignment at hand – from strategic to operational decision making, and from field scale to global scale. Commonly used tools include water allocation models such as WEAP, water resource models such as SWAT, and the spatially distributed hydrological model SPHY, developed in-house. FutureWater has extensive experience on use of satellite data and remote sensing techniques, including drone-based. We use our own developed algorithms and state-of-the art libraries available in the public domain. The Google Earth Engine platform is also a central tool in our analytical toolset. FutureWater has developed tailor-made training courses for experts in the water and agriculture sector, on the mentioned tools and technologies, in many institutions and businesses around the world.
