3 May 2021The first Blue-Green City Dialogue addressing the Balkan’s flood risk management challenges took place on 23 April. This session shared experiences, challenges, and goals, and offered a platform through which to learn about dealing with flood risk management issues.
Representatives from cities in Albania (Shkodra), Bosnia and Herzegovina (Tešanj), Croatia (Karlovac County), Kosovo (Peja) and the Southwest Planning Region in North Macedonia attended the session. Dutch organisations Witteveen+Bos, HKV, Cityförster, Deltares and Royal HaskoningDHV contributed their cities' challenges and experiences in the field of flood risk management to the lively discussion.
This introductory Blue-Green City Dialogue was the first in a series of dialogues. Based on the cases and input, the Netherlands Water Partnership (NWP) and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) will plan follow-up meetings with the Balkan cities that attended the session to help focus their needs.
A next Blue-Green City Dialogue to further explore potential project development and matchmaking/consortium creation is scheduled for June 2021.
Blue-Green City Dialogues is an NWP initiative. RVO’s Team International Organisations and Dutch regional embassies are working with NWP on organising these dialogues. The initiative is powered by the Partners for Water Programme and Dutch Top Sector Water and Maritime.
