On the back of this long cooperation between the two countries, Mozambique has been included in the Dutch Government’s delta countries approach. This approach is supported by the Partners for Water programme. One of the activities within this programme is the support to PLAMA, the Water platform in Mozambique. PLAMA’s goal is to strengthen the Mozambican water sector by stimulating the dialogue between the public and private sector and to build on the capacity within the private organisations.
NWP supports Dutch organisations that work in Mozambique. Areas of interest for the Dutch water sector are drinking water and sanitation; coastal protection; and urban development . Geographically there is a main focus on Maputo, Beira and the Northern Region (Cabo Del Gado) The Dutch water sector is united in the Water Support Programme’s Mozambique Country Platform and the Dutch Government’s Partners for Water Programme. NWP coordinates the platform. Via the PLAMA platform in Mozambique the Dutch water sector has easier access to the right partners in Mozambique and information about developments in the water sector.
