Northern America represents a huge market in the field of water. The region has a variety of climate and water challenges that bring opportunities for the Dutch water sector.
Both Canada and the United States of America have large areas with abundant water resources, and managing these can be difficult. In addition, collisions between federal and local regulations can affect water governance practices. The increasing vulnerability of coastlines and urban areas due to extreme weather events is also a challenge. The deterioration of water quality in surface water reserves through contamination and/or algae blooms is also a concern. The list of challenges is extensive and so is the region’s interest in practical, ready-to-deploy solutions.
NWP has broad experience in collaborating with the Northern America water sector and has nurtured a broad network of experts and businesses across the different parts of the sector. We can connect organisations to potential partners and match regional demands with Dutch offerings.
Strengthening flood resilience
A recent endeavour in the USA to improve knowledge sharing and expand the market reach of proven Dutch innovations is the Dutch Flood Resilience Solutions Partnership. The partnership is a consortium of Dutch research institutes and innovative companies with expertise in flood resilience that have joined forces under the Partners for International Business (PIB) programme of the Netherlands Enterprise Agency. NWP and Dutch Water Prevention are the Partnership’s coordinators and, as such, we create opportunities for the consortium to work side by side with American partners as well as for scalable Dutch solutions to be introduced to the American market.
Facilitating onsite exposure
Coordinating the participation of the Dutch water sector at major trade shows is also a regular activity at NWP. For instance, NWP has facilitated the Dutch presence at WEFTEC (USA) for years, coordinating a country pavilion for Dutch exhibitors. Furthermore, we develop tailored programmes and activities for international missions, and host country visits and foreign delegations on request.
